Gracious colleagues:
As most of you know by now, HPNA has dissolved all the Chapters and is working to develop regional nursing groups. We at HPNA-LARC were surprised to learn that our Chapter, as hard as it struggled, was one of the more successful ones. The closing of this Chapter was painful to so many of us who had been involved for so long. For the two of us, Anne Moore and Jeannie Meyer, who were founding members it was especially poignant.
However, the closing of the HPNA local chapter can lead to the opening of windows and new opportunities. We are very interested in taking not only our existing nursing contact list, but reaching beyond nursing, and creating a new collaborative and collegial organization: one that could include nurses, social workers, chaplains, care partners, administrators, physicians, pharmacists, doulas and other interdisciplinary colleagues with a passion for Hospice and Palliative Care. Our working title is: The Los Angeles Hospice and Palliative Network.
Anne is updating our website and one of the benefits of this endeavor is that we can draft our own mission, vision and bylaws and our board members can be from community members with a passion for Hospice and Palliative care.
Our working Mission Statement is: Interdisciplinary Collaborators working together to improve Hospice and Palliative Care throughout Southern California.
This email will be the first outreach. If you are interested, please respond to Anne Moore (our committee volunteer for the group) you can contact via Nurses Network messages or temporary email: annemoore.hpna.la@gmail.com
If this is going to be successful, we will truly need all the help we can get.
Jeannie is currently out on medical leave but is responding to emails from her home address at jeanniemouse1@sbcglobal.net .
We hope to hear from you soon.
